MAINTAIN INTERNET SPEED FOR BSNL BROADBAND CONNECTION

How to browse with the same speed on BSNL even after FUP

Want to Download with 2Mbps or 250KBps speed even after FUP in BSNL BroadBand !!

If you are a BSNL BroadBand user, you might be familiar with FUP (Fair Usage Policy).

For those who aren’t familiar, read about it here

According to BSNL Policy, every broadband plan, every month has a speed of 2Mbps or 250KBps [LoL] upto 6GB beyond which the speed is reduced to 512Kbps or 64KBps.
Whenever the limit is reached, a message as shown below is displayed on browser
Dear Sir/Madam
As you are a premium Broadband user of BSNL We would like to inform that you have exhausted your mandated broadband speed (as per plan chosen by you) . We want you to continue browsing at higher speed. Please Click on “Upgrade” option as per your convenience.
Everyone including me would opt for Decline Option which would take you to another page which says
PLEASE RESTART YOUR MODEM
The message clearly says to Restart your Modem
Don’t Restart the Modem..I repeat, Don’t Restart the Modem

This is the only way they could bring you back to the 64KBps internet :p

You can continue downloading in torrent/Vuze with the speed of 2Mbps as long as you don’t turn off the modem.

You won’t be able to browse any site at first as it will redirect you to the FUP page. Browsing will be granted after few attempts

The reason why you are able to continue with high speed is because you are on the same connection that was established before the FUP was reached. The only way for BSNL to reset it is by establishing a new connection with your computer or by restarting the modem.

Hope they don’t fix this anytime soon :D
